About the Self Help Center

1. a regularly updated database of support groups in Champaign County and surrounding East Central Illinois communities, national groups, and groups in formation. The Center also has information on state-wide support groups and professionals available to assist self-help groups.
2. a print Support Group Directory listing more than 300 local and regional self-help groups.
3. Specialized support group listings on particular topics.
4. An online database of self-help groups.
5. The Self Helper, a free print newsletter containing information and news relevant to the self-help community. Also available online.
6. The self-help lending library.
7. A credit / non credit leadership course, workshops and educational packets on starting, publicizing, and facilitating groups.
8. Consultation service to assist individuals wanting to start new groups or improve the functioning of existing groups.
9. The Self-Help listserv for communication among self-help support groups and professionals working with these groups in East Central Illinois.
